Our Schools and Visitor Attractions

“As a tourist attraction, we welcome many school groups throughout the year and it was important we found an innovative yet practical way to educate our visitors about the historic railway line and the many forms of fauna and flora on site. The very nature of our site means that the children are taught outdoors and the ‘Learning Outside System’ enables us to take groups of children outside of the classroom and deliver interactive lessons that also meet the needs of the curriculum. The flexibility in designing our own magnets/content was perfect for us and we created something entirely bespoke to this site.”

Elham Valley Line Trust would like to thank their sponsors ‘Affinity Water’.

“Initially the Learning Outside Stations were set up with the various magnetic activities so that the children could see the options they had during adult guided activities throughout the day. Very soon after they began to choose their own and mix the activities together. After the first couple of weeks of exploring, the children began choosing to play with the activities during their child initiated time. The children in Acorns class are very independent and enjoyed selecting their own magnetic activities as well as using the stations as barriers for role play purposes. The smaller station was at the perfect height for the children ages 4-6 and is very robust.”
